Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
 The geographical location, climate & socio-economic conditions of Bangladesh have great impacts on the island water transport services. This service is the oldest still dominant is transportation both passenger & cargo. Bangladesh is known is that land of rivers. These rivers protect well passenger’s service. At the same time, playas the most potential barriers to the development of roads and highways. Water passenger service has unlimited importance on the economy, society, and environment of Bangladesh. In these circumstances, this research project attempts to find out the impacts of techno-economic factors on a number of accidents and subsequent environmental effects. In an empirical case study, relevant data has been collected on selected technical, economic and environmental parameters. The present study addresses the problems created by defective passenger vessel, backward operation system, mismanagement and many other constraints in Dhaka port. This port is the central point of all water transport route throughout Bangladesh. Dhaka Port (popularly known as Shadarghat Terminal) is not only important for carrying passengers but also cargo. Data included primary, secondary & tertiary sources. In addition, previous studies & models were discussed to dig out techno-economic causes of accidents & casualties. Data collection included observation, filed measurements & questionnaire survey collected. Data has been compiled in the computers database in Access & Excel forms. These forms of data had been interpreted to find out two impacts or technical & economic faculties in the accidents casualties & health hazards. In Baqgladesh more than 80% of working & business passengers depends upon the water transports. This sector contributes to enrich our economy. Unfortunately, passenger service is extremely hazardous & risky due to services of techno-economic drawbacks & lack of innovativeness. The traditional manual system of operation, old engines, and defective ships, as well as deliberate driving of passenger’s vessels, are making the problems even worse. To save thousands of precious lives from obvious future accidents it has become inevitable to fmd effective alternatives. In this age of information and communication technology (lCT), the best solutions would be computerization of the terminal and networking throughout the main stations having the Dhaka port as the control Headquarter (HQ). The circular passenger vessels must be equipped with wireless communication devices and rescue boats should always be alert to salvage the passengers in case of accidents. Every day over 50,000 passengers compels themselves into a highly risky journey by Lunch, steamer and rockets without any modem communication system. In all state-of-the-art communication system, the proper application of lCT is the best technique to minimize risk and maximize benefits to passengers. These must be an organized act database & network system for the free flow of information 24 hours. In the case of water passenger’s service, application to a system development utmost necessary to behave quality of management, traffic control, transparency & accountability in both public & private transit source.
